I have survived 37 Texas summers and each year around August I am begging for fall to hurry back.. The Fall season is truly the beginning of the holiday season and what better way to be present in the season than to get out there and enjoy some fall activities with family and friends?! Here are a few fun and safe fall activities for the entire family to enjoy, ranging from fairs and festivals to DIY activities.

  1. Go to The State Fair of Texas🎡

Situated in the heart of Dallas Texas, The State Fair of Texas is the largest and longest running fair in the nation. Hundreds of food options: fletchers famous corn dogs, giant turkey legs, Deep fried Oreos, deep fried collard greens and so much more. The fair has something for everyone, and it is rare to find a one stop shop like it. The 2023 season begins September 29th and runs through October 22nd.

Fridavs - Saturdavs:

10 a.m. - 10 p.m.

Autumn at the arboretum (Dallas Arboretum and botanical garden) in Dallas Texas is a must visit for families. If pumpkins don’t put you in a fall mood I don’t know what will. The Dallas Botanical Gardens transforms into a village of pumpkin patches all displaying pumpkins in all different shapes, colors and sizes making for some instagram worthy photo opportunities.

This year’s theme ‘It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown’ features the return of the Peanuts Gang, along with themed pumpkin houses that make up the acclaimed Pumpkin Village, and of course, a maze for the little ones and the young at heart. Fall in love with being a kid again at Autumn at the Arboretum.

3. Carve a pumpkin

The holidays are all about spending quality time with loved ones and there is no better way to bond than a little friendly competition. Battle it out and show off those pumpkin carving skills at the same time with a pumpkin carving contest. Order your carving supplies early and plan the best festive fall night.

Tip: Switch it up and order a pumpkin painting kit and have a pumpkin painting contest instead!

4. Create a Fall scrapbook.
